Kidwelly Castle is a well-preserved Norman castle located in the town of Kidwelly in Carmarthenshire, southwest Wales. Kidwelly began in the early 12th century as a Norman ‘ringwork’ castle made of wood and protected only by an earthen bank and ditch. Visiting Kidwelly Castle with @themosthappy78 was a real thrill. The fortress began in the early 12th century - probably around 1106 - as a Norman wooden ringwork defended by earth banks and ditches. Though the Normans seized England in 1066, Wales held out much longer.
