After cutting back my autumn raspberries, I save the canes to use later as pea supports. Peas find it much easier to climb raspberry canes than smooth bamboo sticks because the canes have natural little spikes and texture for them to cling onto. When it comes to growing raspberries it’s important to prune the canes to maintain overall plant health and great yields. Raspberry varieties are available in summer-bearing and everbearing (fall-bearing).
