5 Gray Whales & Bottlenose Dolphin 🐳🐬🐳 The 5 gray whales we saw were all southbound adults. One trio was spotted 2.6 miles off the Dana Point Harbor and all three were blowing 3-4 times and fluking before each dive. This group continued on a consistent path and kept a steady pace for the duration of our encounter until we left them just north of the San Clemente Pier. The offshore bottlenose dolphin were in 2 groups. One smaller pod of 10-15 was 5 miles offshore heading south likely feeding.

Today day ended with a double treat when two southbound Gray whales were located about 1.5 miles offshore of Monarch Beach! 🐋✨🐋 We followed these two down to Capistrano Beach before we said , “Adios,” and wished them well on the rest of their migration. Traveling at approximately 3-5 mph, on a journey of 5,000-6,000 miles each way, these two are rounding third base and headed for home plate!
