The Clovis culture, named after a discovery in Clovis, New Mexico in the 1930s, is defined by its unique fluted points—lance-shaped tools with grooves extending a quarter to a third of the way up. The flute on each side of these artifacts is thought to thin the base for easier attachment to spears, reflecting sophisticated craftsmanship from ancient North America.
