Station Name: SHIPTON-ON-CHERWELL HALT - Disused Stations
Sep 4, 2023 · Shipton-on-Cherwell Halt was the only intermediate station on the Kidlington to Blenheim and Woodstock (referred to as Woodstock here on) branch which opened on 19 May 1890. Long before the arrival of the branch, Shipton-on-Cherwell was the site of a notorious train crash on 24 December 1874.

Tiptree railway station was one of the original stations on the Kelvedon & Tollesbury Light Railway, opening with the line on 1 October 1904. At 3 miles 39 chains from Kelvedon Low Level it was initially the first station down the line from Kelvedon.

Jan 13, 2025 · The British-transport Commission Hand-Book of Stations including junctions, sidings, collieries, works etc published in 1956 still shows the Salvation Army and Campfield Press siding and Sanders' (St Albans) Ltd siding as still being operational.

It served stations at Downton, Breamore, Fordingbridge, Daggons Road and Verwood and for much of its length followed the River Avon along the western edge of the New Forest.
