The Smithsonian’s removal of a reference to the two impeachments of President Trump comes as his administration is increasingly asserting dominion over American institutions.

The decision comes as the White House exerts pressure to offer a more positive — and selective — view of American history.

In a statement to CNN Thursday, The Smithsonian said the decision was made after a review of the museum’s “legacy content” this year.
