After a viral LinkedIn post from an account claiming to be Elmo said that he had been laid off from Sesame Street due to “federal budget cuts,” Sesame Workshop confirmed it was a parody.
A viral LinkedIn post suggested Elmo had been laid off from PBS's 'Sesame Street' because of public-media funding cuts from the Trump White House.
“Elmo is good at so many things,” it said. “Like hugs. Elmo loves giving hugs.” A screenshot of the LinkedIn post went viral, but a Sesame Workshop spokesperson told Variety it was fake.
“Elmo learned that it is important to ask a friend how they are doing. Elmo will check in again soon, friends! Elmo loves you,” he posted with a heart emoji.
