The Philadelphia Flyers have named Rick Tocchet the 25th head coach in franchise history, according to General Manager Daniel Briere.

Tocchet won the Stanley Cup as an assistant with Pittsburgh in 2016 and ’17 and played more than a decade with Philadelphia in separate stints at the start and end of his career.

The team has hired one of their former star players, Rick Tocchet, as the new bench boss. Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli was the first to break the story.
