A U.K. family says their "dad, grandad and great grandad" succumbed to injuries sustained in an attack by an American XL bully dog about a year after the breed was banned.

An 84-year-old man in the United Kingdom died a month after authorities say he was attacked by a dog that escaped from a nearby home. The dog, thought to be an XL Bully, attacked the man in a garden in Warrington, England, on Feb. 24, the Cheshire Constabulary said. On Sunday, March 30, the man died from his injuries, Cheshire police said.
