The Toronto Blue Jays are reportedly signing former Detroit Tigers right-hander Max Scherzer to a one-year, $15.5 million contract.

The Detroit Tigers signed Jack Flaherty to a two-year, $35 million contract late on Sunday. They are one of the teams that has been connected to third baseman Alex Bregman all offseason long.

The Jays welcomed the future Hall of Famer into the fold on Tuesday with the official signing of the one-year pact. Scherzer will work in the starting rotation for the Jays, who are trying to overcome a last-place finish in 2024.
