Andrew Cuomo's campaign cited a "technical software error" as the reason for being denied publicly matched campaign funds Tuesday, after reportedly raising $2.5 million from more than 4,000 contributors.

Former Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s mayoral run has been denied millions of dollars of public matching funds, after his filing with New York City’s Campaign Finance Board failed to provide necessary documentation. Campaign officials blamed the snafu on a since-fixed software glitch, and said they expect to get the funding next month.

Cuomo was not among the Democratic primary candidates who received public matching funds to help pay for staff and campaign costs.
