The 1,025-foot tall building will overtake the JPMorgan Chase Building in Houston, which has been the tallest building in Texas since 1981.

The 74-story, 1,025-foot tower opens next year and features a hotel, 700,000 square feet of offices and more than 350 luxury apartments.

The university announced the remodel as part of the "Our Tower: The Next 100 Years" project, in which the tower will have its white stone polished and clock tower shining like gold by summer 2027.
