The Alphabet GOOGL-backed Waymo said late Monday that it will expand to Dallas next year in partnership with Avis Budget Group CAR. Avis will manage the fleet of Waymo's autonomous cabs, which riders can book through the Waymo One app.

Waymo has announced plans to expand its robotaxi service to Dallas next year. This will make Dallas the second major Texas city for Waymo, following its move into Austin earlier this year.

Waymo claims that its robotaxis are much safer than vehicles operated by humans. Based on its data, the Waymo Driver resulted in 88% fewer serious injury or worse crashes, 79% fewer crashes involving an airbag deployment, and 78% fewer crashes involving an injury of any kind.
