President Donald Trump said Saturday there was “great progress made” on trade talks between the United States and China, amid a possible thaw in the trade war sparked by his massive tariffs.

The president said reducing tariffs to 80 percent from the current 145 percent “sounds right,” as U.S. and Chinese negotiators prepare to meet in Switzerland.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer have begun meetings in Geneva with a Chinese delegation led by Vice Premier He Lifeng.
