air traffic controller, flight delays

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy warned that the country’s air traffic control system is being harmed by the ongoing government shutdown, during a visit to Newark’s airport in which he delivered pizzas to air traffic controllers.
Delta CEO Ed Bastian also revealed that, due to aging air traffic control systems, it actually takes longer today to fly from Atlanta to LaGuardia than it did in the 1950s when the airline opened that route.
Though Duffy said the nation's airspace remains safe, he noted that some air traffic control facilities were experiencing an increase in sick calls ‒ with some missing as many as 50% of employees on any given day since the shutdown started last week.
U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy held a press conference at Newark Airport in New Jersey on Monday to talk about the government shutdown, which is currently on its sixth day. And it was filled with misinformation about why the government has shut down and what it’s going to take to open things back up.
Did Sean Duffy notice two jets crashing on the Laguardia Airport tarmac? I kid, I kid...but since Trump took over, there have been more air travel disasters than ever before.
