The California Republican Party said Wednesday it will sue to challenge the new congressional map approved by voters under Proposition 50​.

California Republicans appeared down but not out Wednesday after enduring a resounding defeat on Prop 50, handing Democrats a potential gain of up to five House seats in next year’s midterms and giving Gov.

California voters are deciding whether to reshape congressional districts in a move by leaders in the nation’s most populous state that could flip some House seats from Republican to Democratic control.

The redistricting opposition camps struggled with money and messaging, especially in the days leading up to the election.

Republican Chad Bianco told Newsweek, "Californians are craving real leadership after eight years of Newsom’s posturing."
