For months, more than a dozen Hill Republicans have been sounding the alarm about the steep Medicaid cuts in President Donald Trump’s sprawling agenda package, which is now just hours away from becoming law.

Republican Rep. Addison McDowell of Bermuda Run said on X: “I just voted to pass the One Big Beautiful Bill, just in time for Independence Day! This bill is the course correction our country needs, and it will soon be the law of the land.”

Republicans say this is a huge step towards limiting waste, fraud and abuse, while Democrats warn of potential harm to public services.
