Kenyan runner Hellen Obir won the women’s 2025 New York City marathon Sunday, besting thousands of runners in the journey across all five boroughs.

The 37-year-old Broadway actor completed the New York City Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 2, finishing the 26.2 miles trek through all five boroughs in just 3:40:53 before taking the stage as Fiyero in Wicked 's 2 p.m. matinee and 7 p.m. evening performances.

Some 55,000 people came out to race through the five boroughs on a sunny Sunday. As the sun rose on Sunday, runners from all over New York City, the greater metropolitan area and the world hopped on the Staten Island Ferry to make their way to the start of the 54th New York City Marathon on Sunday.

The men's side of the New York City Marathon came down to the wire on Sunday as Benson Kipruto beat Alexander Mutiso in a photo finish.

In his first New York City Marathon, and in perhaps his final marathon as a pro, Eliud Kipchoge of Kenya placed 17th in 2:14:36 at today’s New York City Marathon. Kipchoge, who turns 41 on Wednesday, lost touch with the lead pack during the 16th mile.
