The state will open a second immigration detention, processing and deportation facility at Baker Correctional Institution dubbed "Deportation Depot"

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Thursday that the state will use a shuttered state prison in North Florida to open a second immigration detention center.

Florida's governor announced Thursday that the new facility is to be built at the Baker Correctional Institution, a state prison about 43 miles west of Jacksonville, and is expected to house 1,300 immigration detention beds.
