Donatella Versace has spent decades turning fabric into fantasy and the red carpet into her personal runway. She’s the woman who made Jennifer Lopez’s jungle dress at the 2000 Grammys so iconic that Google Images had to be invented to keep up with the demand for it.

Donatella Versace is stepping down as the chief creative officer of Versace. The Italian fashion designer was the head of her late brother Gianni Versace’s luxury fashion empire for nearly 30 years. She took over the fashion house after his tragic murder in 1997.

Crediting Donatella with her first big runway appearance, Gigi Hadid took the opportunity to highlight her 10-year career with Versace through campaigns, fashion shows and red carpet appearances. As well as thanking the designer, Gigi signed off her post, “4ever your girl.” We're not crying, you are!
