Lunar New Year celebrations in New York City are continuing, with the 27th annual Lunar New Year Parade snaking its way through Chinatown on Sunday. The parade marking the Year of the Snake will uncoil in Little Italy and end on Broome Street near Sara D. Roosevelt Park.

Hundreds of people lined the streets of Chicago’s Chinatown Sunday afternoon to celebrate the end of the Lunar New Year, a 15-day holiday that marks the beginning of a new year in the lunisolar calendar,

The 27th Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade and Festival is being held today in Lower Manhattan. Celebrations kicking off the Year of the Snake began on Jan. 29. This year was the first year that New York City public school students had the holiday off. CUNY campuses also observed the holiday for the first time this year.
