The Federal Aviation Administration was experiencing staffing issues or anticipating shortages at airports and other air traffic control facilities in the United States on Monday night.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) warned of longer wait times at airports across the country the longer the government remains shut down. Both TSA officers and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) air traffic controllers are classified as essential workers and will continue to work throughout the shutdown.

Williston Basin International Airport confirmed with us their TSA agents are working without pay since the shutdown. Director Anthony Dudas said TSA workers are exempt from the furlough status. He said in the past shutdown, their employees received a backpay once the government opened back up again.
