Officials are investigating after a man died following an airlift from a restricted zone at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

A Hawaii man, 33, was found dead after crossing into a restricted section of Kīlauea caldera, sparking an overnight rescue effort. Visitors have been warned to stay on marked paths.

Search and rescue crews found the 33-year-old Hawaii resident in steep and hazardous terrain of the caldera, the National Park Service said.
