Step 1. Confirm the Paint Type. Double-check that you are washing a washable paint type. Any wall can benefit from dusting and a dry towel, but not every surface is moisture-friendly.

Just as important as the color of your paint is the finish (or gloss or sheen). Generally speaking, matte (or flat) paints absorb light and are better for covering up imperfections.

Just build the pantry room and finish the walls with drywall. Paint it with semigloss white paint. This is bright, to reflect light, and it is also easier to clean than flat wall paint.

Most paint stores carry these products. Once you have decided on the type of paint to use, you must select the colors. You can put a lighter-colored glaze over a dark wall, or vice versa.

For example, on smooth walls nap length should be three-eighths inch when applying ordinary flat wall paint, but if the wall is stippled or slightly textured, a half-inch cover will work better.
