Lightning defenseman Ryan McDonagh is playing a key role in helping Oliver Bjorkstrand get acclimated to Tampa Bay.
As Tampa Bay was winning a pair of Stanley Cups, it was the 5-foot-9 Yanni Gourde who often energized the Amalie Arena crowd.
Gourde, who returned to Seattle’s lineup against the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday after a two-month absence (sports hernia surgery), had an assist and won 8-of-9 faceoffs. Only Jared McCann scored more shorthanded goals (six) than Gourde (four) during his time with the Kraken since 2021-22.
To complete the deal, Tampa Bay sends forward Michael Eyssimont, a first-round draft pick in 2026, a first-round draft pick in 2027 and Toronto's second-round draft pick in 2025
After advancing to back-to-back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals between 2020-22 -- and winning two of them -- the Lightning are going all in again.
