Areas of western North Carolina still in recovery mode due to the deadly destruction caused by Hurricane Helene last year were again on alert for flash flooding as a potent storm system brought rounds of torrential rain and thunderstorms to communities across the Southeast and mid-Atlantic.

On Sunday at 2:49 p.m. the NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC issued a flood watch valid from Monday 10 a.m. until Tuesday 8 a.m. The watch is for Southern Jackson, Caldwell Mountains, Greater Caldwell, Burke Mountains,
