The Atlanta Braves have designated Carlos Carrasco for assignment only three starts into his time with the club.

The contest featured the debut of Jen Pawol, the first woman to umpire an MLB game. Pawol, 48, and handled duties at first base without incident.

But this week the club has added another former Atlanta Braves prospect, this time Jared Shuster, off the waiver wire from the Chicago White Sox. Shuster was selected by the Braves in the first round, 25th overall, out of Wake Forest.

MLB’s official prospect site Pipeline yesterday re-did the Top 30 prospects for every team to include the recent draft picks and players moved at the deadline, as well as players who have risen or fallen this year. That means a new look Top 30 for the Atlanta Braves, headlined by Cam Caminiti and JR Ritchie.

Eli White hit a three-run homer and a solo shot, helping the Atlanta Braves beat the Cincinnati Reds 4-2 in the rain-delayed MLB Speedway Classic at Bristol Motor Speedway.

The famed racetrack has been converted to host baseball for the showcase. Over 85,000 fans were expected on hand for the first-of-its-kind event. MLB's previous attendance record was 84,587 fans at a 1954 game in Cleveland featuring the New York Yankees.

The Atlanta Braves have outrighted two pitchers to Triple-A Gwinnett: Right-hander Davis Daniel and right-hander Carlos Carrasco. Instead of accepting his assignment, Carrasco has opted for free agency.
