Elmo appears to have activated LinkedIn’s “Open for Work” tab. A post on the employment social media network attributed to the adorable “Sesame Street” character has gone viral.

“Unfortunately Elmo was recently laid off because of the federal budget cuts,” the Muppet began in the since-deleted post that has been shared on X. “Elmo worked at Sesame Street for 45 years.

After a viral LinkedIn post from an account claiming to be Elmo said that he had been laid off from Sesame Street due to “federal budget cuts,” Sesame Workshop confirmed it was a parody.
