The British actor, who starred in 'Billy Budd,' 'Wall Street,' 'Superman II' and 'The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert,' died Sunday at 87.

The Oscar-nominated British actor was best known for starring in The Limey , Billy Budd, and as General Zod in Superman. He also appeared as a transgender woman in The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, which earned him a Golden Globe and BAFTA nomination for Best Actor.

Filmmaker Edgar Wright and actors Guy Pearce and Lou Diamond Phillips took to social media to express their grief over the Sunday death of actor Terence Stamp.
