A passenger aboard a commercial flight captured a rare view of NASA’s Artemis II launch from the sky as the spacecraft lifted off from Florida on April 1.

America’s last lunar venture went down in February 2024, when the US landed an unmanned lunar spacecraft called Odysseus near the moon’s south pole; its first in 50 years. Odysseus carried six NASA experiments and six commercial items, including a Jeff Koons sculpture.

The crew will travel more than 252,000 miles from Earth – a distance record for humans – before hanging a U-turn behind the moon and heading home.
