West Virginia National Guard troops are now being sent to Washington, DC, in an escalation of President Donald Trump’s efforts to federally take over law enforcement in the city.

By adding outside troops to join the existing National Guard and federal law enforcement officers temporarily assigned to Washington, President Trump is exercising even tighter control over the city.

West Virginia is sending 300 to 400 members of its National Guard to the nation’s capital to assist in the Trump administration’s takeover of the city’s police department
