A Maryland judge ordered the Trump administration to reinstate thousands of probationary employees slashed from the federal workforce, stopping short of a nationwide injunction previously used against the White House.

The pause is limited to certain states while the case proceeds, narrowing the scope of an earlier order that had paused firings nationwide and led to the reinstatement of thousands of federal employees.

A judge extended a preliminary injunction in a lawsuit seeking to overturned DOGE firings. The suit was filed by the attorneys general of 19 states and D.C.

A federal judge has dismissed New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ corruption case. Judge Dale E. Ho on Wednesday granted the Justice Department’s extraordinary request to set aside criminal charges so the mayor could aid President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown.

Dismissing the case “with prejudice” spares Adams from having to govern in a way that pleases Trump at risk of the Justice Department reviving the charges.
