The original stump-shaped cherry tree, beloved by Washingtonians, was cut down by the National Park Service in May to rebuild the seawall on the south side of the Tidal Basin. But fans of the tree can rejoice because there’s another one like it on the north side of the Tidal Basin. We’re naming it Stumpy II.
