Somerset County to receive some rain, while significant rainfall is forecast for those in the Midwest and Ohio Valley regions this weekend.

At 3:42 a.m. on Thursday, the National Weather Service released a severe thunderstorm watch in effect until 7 a.m. for Allegheny, Beaver, Greene, Lawrence and Washington counties.

Today is going to be an active weather day if all the ingredients come together. Any strong storm that forms today could produce damaging wind and hail.

Rain chances continue into Friday and Saturday morning. While not every day will be a washout, the likelihood of heavier rain will go up by the end of the week. Rain totals could range from 2 to 5 inches in some locations once this is all said and done.

DALLAS - Most of North Texas and the Metroplex is under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 8 a.m. .A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect until 5:30 a.m. for Montague, Wise and Cooke Counties.
