South Carolina was sued after it disqualified Planned Parenthood South Atlantic from getting Medicaid funding even for health services unrelated to abortion.
The future of Planned Parenthood in South Carolina may hang in the balance of this case, brought after SC Governor Henry McMaster blocked Medicaid payments to the reproductive healthcare provider because they also perform abortions.
“By denying the petitions, the Supreme Court leaves in place the decisions of both the South Carolina Court of Appeals and the Circuit Court. These rulings are consistent with and uphold the conclusions of the lower courts, and the City hopes that this will conclude the litigation.”
