According to the Associated Press, another death was reported in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas, located near the U.S.-Mexico border — bringing the death toll up to at least four. The extreme rainfall also pummeled parts of northeastern Mexico, with the region seeing between 7 and 12 inches of rain, according to AP.

At least three people died in a South Texas county after around 20 inches of rain fell on the Rio Grande Valley, causing what the state agriculture commissioner called catastrophic flooding.

More than 3,400 in several counties in South Texas remained without power on Friday afternoon, according to AEP Texas. A flood warning was still in effect for portions of South Texas, including Cameron, Hidalgo and Willacy counties, through early Friday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
