A tsunami advisory remains in effect along the North Bay and Mendocino coasts Wednesday following a powerful earthquake off the eastern coast of Russia that triggered surging currents and strong tidal swings across California.

Tsunami waves arrived on the eastern coast of Japan following a powerful 8.8. magnitude earthquake off the eastern coast of Russia that also sparked fears of a tsunami in the U.S.

A tsunami advisory was also issued for parts of Alaska and the entire West Coast, stretching from the California-Mexico border up to the Alaska-British Columbia border.
