Ohio State is in the process of hiring Matt Patricia, a longtime assistant and head coach in the NFL, as its defensive coordinator, a source told The Dispatch.

In recent years, he promoted Keenan Bailey and Laurinatis to full-time jobs, and they have thrived. Bailey, who just wrapped up his second year as Ohio State’s tight ends coach, has revamped that entire position after Cade Stover left.

Hartline, who has spent eight years with the Buckeyes and led the wide receivers room, was promoted to offensive coordinator. He has recruited and developed high-caliber wide receivers, including Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Marvin Harrison Jr. and Jeremiah Smith.
