Having lost two in a row for the first time this season, the Bears need one more victory just to become bowl eligible.
With the matchup a couple days away, we have our first inclination as to who could play, and will not. On Thursday, the ACC released the first availability report for Louisville's matchup vs. Cal. An updated report will come out at 8:00 p.m. EST on Friday, and a final report will then be released two hours before kickoff.
The No. 15 Cardinals host California on Saturday night at L&N Stadium, and while the Golden Bears are new to the ACC — and new to Louisville entirely — they arrive with a 5-4 record, a dangerous dual-threat back in Kendrick Raphael, and a freshman quarterback who’s already made history.

The ACC's push for multiple College Football Playoff bids took a hit last week with then-No. 8 Georgia Tech and then-No. 10 Miami both losing. That leaves No. 12 Virginia as the lone unbeaten in the league standings, with the Cardinals among five one-loss teams behind them.
At 5-4, Cal is still searching for the elusive sixth win required for bowl eligibility. The Bears are coming off back-to-back losses against Virginia Tech and then-No. 15 Virginia, bringing head coach Justin Wilcox’s record against ranked opponents to just 4-21 throughout his nine-year tenure.
