Jasper Philipsen has withdrawn from the Tour de France after suffering a heavy fall on stage three. The Belgian, who rides for Alpecin-Deceuninck, laid early claim to the green jersey after winning the first stage of the race and maintaining his lead after the second.

Deceuninck had to withdraw from the Tour after a heavy crash in the third stage. In the run-up to the intermediate sprint, Philipsen crashed and was inspected at the side of the road with serious injuries.
