Myself and 3 friends spent the most Devine 3 hours here Saturday 23rd June. We absolutely loved every minute of it. It is such a magnificent castle and the gardens are truly beautiful. The weather was definitely a bonus . Whilst we were walking around the walled garden we saw several lumps of white sticky substance like lard. We forgot to ask what it was. Could you please enlighten us. Many thanks for a wonderful experience. We have been to many a chateau in France.. this is up there with them..my favourite in Ireland. Kind regards. Marie Stack

Unfortunately I did not see anything like this while there. Maybe it was sap from a plant? Who knows, sounds kind of intriguing

First off, you should know that the castle is not open to the public. Its only the castle gardens and the art gallery. Depending on the exhibition in the gallery, and your own feelings towards art or the art genre on show, i'd say an hour. The gardens are a lovely walk and the kids will have fun running around playing hide and seek or chasing. If gardening is your passion you could spend all day in there admiring the different types of flowers. Other then that its peaceful and tranquil. Note: No wheelchair access to top garden which houses the gallery which can also be tricky for those with young children in buggies.
