The insurance option varies by vendor, but usually it guards against loss/theft of the ticket, and medical emergencies (but not arising from a pre-existing medical condition), and with reasonable notice and supporting documentation from a medical professional. Some policies will also cover against public transport delays (again with evidence from the operating company and proof that you left in good time to make the scheduled performance). A statement of what the specific ticket insurance policy is detailed when you add the insurance to your order.
